A utility in the Southeast called WMFDP curious about how to more effectively engage senior-level white men into the company’s ongoing diversity efforts. Over the last 2 years WMFDP has established a collaborative consultative relationship through the company’s diversity office and with the chief diversity officer.
To begin, the company sent two senior-level white male executives to one of WMFDP’s open-enrollment public learning labs geared especially for white men. This test sought to see if the WMFDP approach would fit with the utility’s culture.
The positive experience of these two men from the business helped to jump start an intervention that has focused in the last two years in two areas: with the senior executive team and with establishing a core group of senior business leaders that have become a “change agent team” working with WMFDP to continue to drive the process forward.
