The ETDA Mid-Year Business Development Summit, held at Flying L Ranch in Glenwood, WA (outside of Portland) on May 9 - 12, 2005, was an intimate gathering of 10 of the top experiential training and development firms who came together for this 3-day workshop devoted to furthering business practices and key development processes.
Facilitated by Dev Pathik (The Advisory Group), Bill Proudman (White Men as Full Diversity Partners), and Moe Carrick (Moementum), Summit attendees journeyed through an exploration of: their relationship with money, a discussion about fears and their influence on business, business priorities and goals, the three strategies to grow your business, The Ideal Client Relationship™, and more… Each attendee redefined their Value Proposition™, examined their products and services and marketing systems and practiced facilitative sales with having 'no attachment to outcome' and a 'walk-a-way power'.
Here is what one attendee had to say:
- "I find that my sense of "marketing" has been totally reframed. It can and should be a process of acknowledging and acting on my belief in the value of my services and in my own power to let go of any outcome except creating the best relationship I can create to serve clients. That is such a wonderful concept and frees me to speak of what I love doing and have passion for rather than speak of "how can I make this sale". -John S. Flood, Owner & Senior Partner of Blue Ridge Consulting Group
- "After attending the ETDA Business Development Summit in early May, I personally returned my investment twice within 24 hours of being home and there is much more to come. To paraphrase on what Bill Proudman said in our final debrief: creating this kind of shared space and experience, where we can offer each other substantial help to develop our businesses and therefore bring higher standards to the field, and at the same time enrich each other personally in profound ways was the dream that got a few friends to build the ETD Alliance." -Aviv Shahar, Founder of The Amber Network
- "My suggestion to others who are hoping to develop professionally through the Alliance; Dive in with both feet and work with other members on a project. There is so much to be gained by putting your work process out in front of colleagues who understand group process, education, and design." -Dev Pathik, Founder and Chairman of The Advisory Group
